Social Studies Vocabulary for Geography and Landforms
geography   the study of the Earth and the ways people use it. 
    The globe helps me learn about geography. (page 56)
landform   different shapes on the surface of the earth. 
    A mountain is a kind of landform. ( page 56)
ancestor   a person in my family who lived before I was born.
    My great-grandmother is my ancestor. (page 68)
producer   someone who makes or grows something.
    A farmer is a producer. (page 68)  
consumer   someone who buys and uses goods.  
    A consumer buys goods at the store. (page 71)
natural resource   a useful material that comes from the earth.
    Soil is a natural resource. (page 76)  
crop   a kind of plant that people grow and use.  
    Corn is a crop that provides food. (page 78)
conservation   the care and protection land, water, plants, and animals.
    Park rangers teach people about conservation. (page 82)
